Feel the Fire: behind the scenes

I love being the ‘behind the scenes’ photographer at shoots for several reasons. Firstly, it lets me bring my street photography style into a professional setting: spotting the right moment from the side lines, composing shots in an unpredictable environment with lots of moving parts on the fly. Secondly, I get to stretch what my camera gear is designed to do often in naturally or artificially lit scenes that are controlled by others- this brings with it a wealth of new experience. Thirdly, it’s a role that enables me to see how others carry out their craft to create what they have envisaged for their project.

All these boxes and more were ticked when I was asked by Pixel Media to be the BTS photographer at the making of the Feel the Fire music video for Meshach and Black Cactus. Over the course of a day I got to meet the artists and musicians behind the track, as well as the videographers and photographers brought on to ensure smooth sailing of the one day shoot.

Here’s a selection of images from the shoot courtesy of Pixel Media, Meshach, and Black Cactus.
